This 7¼-inch Pomegranate Vase was made c.1920 by William Moorcroft.

Four vermillion pomegranates, garlanded with soft green leaves, encircle the form on a lustrous cobalt ground. The interplay of colour and line, rich in paint and deft in tubelining, captures the vitality of William Moorcroft’s early work.

To photograph the vase we used floodlighting to reveal the richness of colour and the fine detail of the tubelining; in natural light the palette softens, yet remains no less striking.

Very good condition. William Moorcroft’s handpainted initials appear over the impressed factory stamp to the base.
