This Florian Ware Vase in the Blue Poppies Design was made around 1903 by William Moorcroft for Macintyre and Co. of Burslem, Staffordshire.

The 5-inch vase was designed and made by the young William Moorcroft during the period he worked as Macintyre’s production manager (1897–1912). The Blue Poppies design, with its distinctively coloured flowers continuing under the collar of the vase, is particularly fetching on this 5-inch vase (itself a rare shape). The gentle tubelining is also noteworthy.

Condition is little short of astonishing: at first glance this piece could have been made yesterday (see condition of the base). It has clearly been very well looked after in its 120-year life. Full William Moorcroft signature painted in green to base.

A superb piece.

All our vintage stock is guaranteed to be in at least very good condition, with no chips, cracks, damage or restoration.
