Anemone 5¼-inch vase
Shipping: 1-3 days
This Anemone vase is a fine example of late-1940s Moorcroft floral design, its gently waisted form providing an elegant ground for one of Moorcroft’s most enduring motifs. Richly tubelined anemone blooms unfold across a deep cobalt blue ground, their softly shaded petals moving from rose and coral through to pale ivory, anchored by dark, inky centres.
The decoration is confident but not crowded. Each flower breathes, framed by fluid green foliage that drifts naturally around the body of the vase. The colouring is particularly successful, with the saturated blue ground heightening the luminosity of the blooms and lending the piece real visual depth.
Standing approximately 5¼ inches high, the vase has a pleasing weight and balance in the hand. It is impressed and painted to the base in the usual manner, with factory marks, the William Moorcroft facsimile signature, and initials hand-signed by Walter Moorcroft in his characteristic broad strokes.
A strong and well-resolved example of Moorcroft’s Anemone pattern, showing the harmony of form, colour and line that defines the best work of the period.
We offer 1-3 day shipping on all pieces in the UK.
