On the White Lily miniature vase, Moorcroft Pottery designer Julie-Anne sets each bloom like a revelation. The white petals, worked with sgraffito lightness, unfold against a ground of jet black, their black tubelined stamens both anchoring and animating the design. Pale greens touch the stamens and foliage, a quiet counterpoint that heightens the purity of the flowers themselves. The effect is one of restraint and radiance – lilies that seem to glow from within.
