Catching sight of a barn owl is always a memorable experience. These elusive hunters, often difficult to spot, reveal their presence through their haunting calls, which serve as a distinctive way to identify them.

January is an especially active time for owls, as their calls become more frequent while they seek mates or assert their territory. Barn owls are most often seen hunting at dawn or dusk, when the fading darkness gives way to the rich hues of midnight blue – just as depicted in Moorcroft Pottery designer Kerry Goodwin’s inaugural monthly miniature, where the twilight beautifully offsets the pale wings of the Night Owl.
