‘C.F.A. Voysey was an architect and furniture and textile designer who created wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings in the Arts and Crafts style. In 1898 he designed a wallpaper featuring a cat sedately watching birds and mice, inspired by a nursery rhyme from 1830 that celebrated the love for a pet cat. Rachel’s cream coloured cat hides amongst a canopy of leaves and wine berries, while a small red heart is included as a sign of affection for her feline friend.’
