Michael Simpson Bronzes
The beautiful, solid bronze sculptures of Michael Simpson are produced by Richard Cooper Bronzes. His miniature models are sold under the Butler and Peach brand.
Each bronze is produced using the lost wax method. Each is then decorated and hand finished using the traditional method of patination, meaning that each piece has a unique finish.
Each comes in an attractive box.
About Michael Simpson
Michael Simpson holds a degree in Fine Art, and is a self-taught sculptor. He is renowned for the technical excellence of his solid bronzes.
Michael’s solid bronze sculptures combine his profound fascination with animal behaviour with an outstanding artistic talent. His pieces capture the variety and vivacity of wildlife, yet never become whimsical. A naturalist’s understanding of the structure of bones and feather, of flight and movement, underlies each of his sculptures.
Before the bronze casting Michael creates his initial models in wax or clay, depending on the subject and its size. The lost wax casting method he uses is complex, but uses a process first discovered around 6000 years ago.
Michael says “Bronze has been valued and appreciated from the earliest civilisations in Greece, Egypt and Rome to the modern world. It is fascinating to remember that the manufacturing techniques employed have changed little over the years, so my contemporary sculptures are rooted firmly within a strong ancient tradition.”
