Originating in the heart of the Austro-Hungarian empire, Herend Porcelain created sublime wares for Europe’s royalty. Today, their intricately hand-made, exquisitely hand-painted porcelain figures continue to be produced using traditional labour-intensive techniques, resulting in stunning works of art.
Herend’s renowned ‘Fishnet’ design was inspired by a fishscale pattern one of their designers saw on a Chinese porcelain plate in 1858. He painted this intricate motif on a cockerel figurine to mimic its feathers marking the beginning of an historic and celebrated design tradition.
