Booming Bitterns Vase 30/10

Bitterns are rare, secretive birds that nest among the reeds of RSPB Leighton Woods. In spring the males make a remarkable, far-carrying booming sound – indeed the bittern enjoys the distinction of being Britain’s loudest bird. Thanks to the RSPB, the very small, reedbed-dependent population is growing. As recently as 1997 booming bitterns almost extinct in the UK, with only 11 recorded: today there are nearer 200.

For her Booming Bitterns vase, Moorcroft Pottery designer Emma Bossons appropriately chose the little-seen 30/10 shape. Bitterns are portrayed around the 10-inch vase, with each bird adopting a lively posture as it weaves its way through its reedbed home.

The Booming Bitterns vase comes in a limited edition of just 10.
