Flambé Coronation Pipe Knocker

spherical flambé William Moorcroft Pipe Knocker made to commemorate the coronation of King George VI in 1937.

Standing 5 inches high, the knocker is a substantial, weighty piece. It is decorated with the coronation crown, orb and sceptre, the Tudor rose and Scottish thistle. Hand drawn in slip is the inscription:

KING GEORGE VI   Coronation   QUEEN ELIZABETH  May 12th 1937

This is a rare and unusual piece, beautifully made and coloured – the light flambé glaze is particularly attractive.

Signed with William Moorcroft’s initials to base.
